Arizona’s standard permit knowledge test for new drivers and other applicants who are required to complete testing.

30 multiple-choice questions
80% or higher required to pass
Instruction permit applicants must be at least 15 years 6 months old

Complete the behind-the-wheel skills test required for your Arizona driver license when your record requires it.

Bring a safe, qualifying test vehicle
Valid registration and current liability insurance required
A licensed driver should accompany you if you cannot legally drive alone

Bring the documents that let us actually issue the credential.

Testing is only one part of the driver-license transaction. Identity, age, authorized-presence and parent/guardian requirements depend on the applicant. Review the Driver License Services guide before arriving.

Identity / Credential Documents Bring the original or certified documents required for your driver license, ID or permit transaction.

Under 18? Parent/guardian approval and Arizona graduated-license requirements apply. A qualifying notarized application may be required when the approver is not present.

Taking the Road Test in Your Vehicle? Bring valid registration and current liability insurance, and make sure the vehicle is safe to operate.

Never Licensed in the U.S.? You generally must pass the permit knowledge test before you can schedule the road skills test.
